Well I am back to blogging! I know it has been some time but I am determined to pick up keeping this blog up to date for all the grandparents that like to check in:)
We had an interesting summer of sorts, to say the least.
It started out on a with a girls trip to a friends lake house. It was amazing! A weekend away with no responsibilities with a group of ladies I have become so fond of this year. We ate, visited, played on the lake, and laughed a lot.
The next week David and I headed to Marble Falls for IOGA and the kiddos spent time with my parents. David and I enjoyed a much needed get away with spa time and lots of golf for David. The kiddos had a blast with Nana and Papa and spent time at the movies, eating ice cream, and wrapping my parents around their fingers.
When we returned home from being gone about 5 days we discovered a plumbing leak that started in our back bathroom had taken out just about the whole house. Our bathroom and bedroom had standing water and almost all the rest of the house was soaked. We immediately called the insurance and started what would be a long summer of finding secondary housing and managing the repair process. I don't think David or I had any idea how long and difficult the process would be, or what a blessing in disguise. So here are a few pictures the day after we arrived home.
There were over 40 fans and dehumidifiers in our house trying to dry it out for 5-6 days. The blessing in all of this "mess" was a complete and total remodel of about 85% of the house. New cabinetry in the bathroom and kitchen, new countertops, new tile floors and carpet, all new paint on the walls, ceiling and baseboards, new hardware throughout the house, a completely remodeled master bath, and lots of new furniture and accessories to replace the ones destroyed by the water. Looking back it is easy to see the blessing but I will tell you in the moment of dealing daily with contractors, budgets, and choosing a whole new decor I cried. A lot. And thanks to all those who offered their houses for entertainment, temporary residence, meals, and childcare. We appreciate you more than you know!
So welcome back to our families blog and bare with me as I make some changes to the look of it and try to come up with a schedule of posting that will work for me and the family that visits!!! Updates that are soon to come are beach trip 2011, new house pics, first day of school pics and broken arm pics of Sarah.
